Marble, known for its distinctive variegated appearance, is a metamorphic rock of crystallized limestone that consists mainly of calcite or dolomite. An elegant addition to any design, marble is a timeless surface option that represents the epitome of luxury and refinement. The word "marble" derives from the Greek marmaros, which means "shining stone." Noted for its brilliant colors and subtle movement, marble comes in many different textures and finishes. Travertine is one of several natural stones that are most commonly used for flooring or paving. It is sometimes known as travertine limestone, sometimes as travertine marble; these are the same stone, even though it is neither limestone nor marble. The stone is characterized by pitted holes and troughs in its surface. Although these troughs occur naturally, they suggest that considerable wear and tear has occurred over many years. It can be effectively polished to a smooth, shiny finish and comes in a variety of colors from gray to coral-red. Here are a few of our varieties:
